I learned a lot from this assignment. I saw that in order to get interesting photos of a subject, you need a patterned or textured background. At first, I took pictures of 5 people in front of a plain white background and upon looking through them I noticed that they weren't very interesting and didn't seem very natural. I took different photos after that of different people and gave them more natural directions in which way to look or what to look at. This helped a lot and made the portraits seem more candid. Also, I noticed having the background of a portrait out to focus gave interest to the overall picture. To do this I always had the aperture as low as I could set it along with the other settings set accordingly. Another mistake I made was not having subjects be behind bright backgrounds. I think these pictures would look a lot nicer if the backgrounds were a little less bright and instead were dimmer than the subjects.
